The new Limelight Boulder hotel has officially opened on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, marking its first on-campus property and introducing what it claims to be the largest all-electric hotel in the U.S.
The 252-room hotel was developed through a partnership between Aspen One, the Limelight Hotels brand, CU Boulder and the City of Boulder. Built to LEED Gold standards, the property emphasizes sustainability and features extensive meeting space, including a 15,000-square-foot ballroom.
“This opening represents an important milestone in the expansion of the Limelight brand, and we are proud to join the Boulder community in collaboration with CU Boulder,” Jeff Toscano, CEO of Aspen Hospitality, a subsidiary of Aspen One, said in a statement
Designed by Meyer Davis and HBA San Francisco, the hotel incorporates local influences into its interiors, along with an art collection curated by Eaton Fine Art. Outdoor spaces feature native landscaping, a rooftop pool and a courtyard fountain inspired by the Flatirons.
CU Boulder Chancellor Justin Schwartz said the hotel will also serve the university as a venue to showcase faculty research and creative work.
Dining options include Ajax Tavern, a sister to the Aspen original, and Crepe Therapy Café from James Beard–honored chef Mawa McQueen. The hotel also introduces Limelight’s new cultural and adventure programming, including live music events and curated outdoor experiences through its “Adventure Architects” team.
The Boulder property adds to the Limelight brand’s portfolio, which includes Colorado locations such as Aspen, Snowmass, Ketchum and Denver, as well as new hotels planned in Mammoth, Calif., and Charleston, S.C.
