Marking its debut in the U.S. and its first alpine resort, One&Only has opened its newest destination—which includes a Private Home community—in Big Sky, Mont.
Located in the Moonlight Basin enclave, the new retreat covers 240 acres and is bordered by more than 17,000 acres of protected land. The One&Only Moonlight Basin was developed in partnership with locally based Lone Mountain Land Company.

This is the start of an exciting new chapter for us as we continue our strategic expansion into the market.”
Located an hour from Bozeman and adjacent to Yellowstone National Park, the property has a collection of alpine-inspired rooms, suites, free-standing cabins and four- to six-bedroom Private Homes. Architecture by Tom Kundig of Olson Kundig follows a low-rise, nature-first approach that incorporates local materials and blends into the surrounding landscape.
Accommodations include king suites with separate living areas, family-friendly interconnecting rooms and the signature Big Sky Suite featuring a wraparound terrace, outdoor soaking tub and panoramic mountain views. Free-standing cabins have outdoor soaking tubs, fire pits and indoor-outdoor living areas. The Private Homes are designed for residential-style stays with gourmet kitchens, hot tubs, fire features and garage access.
Led by executive chef Matt Dahlkemper, the resort’s culinary program includes The Landing at Sky Lodge, Wildwood in the Main Lodge and Akira Back’s modern Japanese concept. Additional offerings include Dear Josephine, a cocktail bar inspired by Montana’s Prohibition-era history, and Moonshack, a whiskey-focused speakeasy.
The 17,000-square-foot One&Only Spa has eight treatment rooms, steam and sauna facilities, an oxygen bar, fitness center, indoor lap pool with retractable glass wall and outdoor onsen and cold plunge. Wellness partnerships include skincare by Augustinus Bader, Auteur and ISUN and nail services by Bastien Gonzalez’s PEDI:MANI:CURE Studio.
