The Memphis downtown hotel landscape has been updated with the reopening of the historic Hotel Napoleon under the voco by IHG flag.
The century-old property was restored and repositioned with support from Raleigh, N.C.-based operator KingsLane Group. Originally built in 1902 as the Scimitar Building and taking on various iterations from commercial offices to a printing operation, the repositioned building marks the voco brand’s debut in the Memphis market.
“Hospitality is about more than a place to sleep, it's about creating experiences that travelers want to return to and communities are proud to host,” Nitin Khanna, managing principal and CEO of KingsLane Group, said in a statement. “This renovation underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional service, with upgraded spaces and amenities designed for the needs of modern travelers.”
“Our aim was to create a space that truly feels like a home away from home while also serving as a vibrant hub for the downtown community," Jatin Kumar, managing principal and CIO at KingsLane Group, added. "Every aspect of this renovation was thoughtfully designed to enhance guest comfort, convenience, and connection.”
The renovation retained the Tennessee property’s stone façade and architectural details while modernizing its 58 guestrooms and suites with contemporary design, upgraded amenities and refreshed social spaces. Signature elements of the boutique hotel include bedding made from recycled materials, energy-efficient operations and social spaces influenced by local culture.
Located near Beale Street and the Mississippi Riverfront, the hotel aims to draw international travelers familiar with the voco brand, while offering a boutique experience tailored to the city’s music, arts and culinary identity, according to the company.
