Young Professionals: What is the most appealing aspect of your work environment?

When your working environment is positive and dynamic, you give employees opportunities to grow, both professionally and personally. Teamwork plays a key role, creating a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. Staff often interact with diverse guests, enhancing communication and cultural understanding. Flexible hours, career advancement and employee benefits make hospitality rewarding. The fast-paced setting keeps work engaging, while strong leadership ensures motivation and job satisfaction, according to Hotel Management’s most recent class of Thirty Under 30 award winners.

The most appealing aspect of my current work environment is the culture and community provided by both properties. As a dual leadership team, we are united in working together to uplift, problem solve and support one another. Many of us have worked in different departments than the roles we occupy now, and that level of understanding and clear and concise communication has further strengthened the operations.

Departmentally in housekeeping, we are working on continuing to enhance our strong levels of cleanliness and attention to detail while also still having fun along the way. Fun, approachable luxury hospitality extends to our back-of-house as well. It is the people that make all the difference and something that I think other industries that have moved to remote work, are starting to miss.

I’ve found a company that truly aligns with my values, making each day at the office something I genuinely look forward to. McKibbon Hospitality is founded on five core principles—think bigger, do the right thing, love your community, support each other, and make a lasting impression. Those foster a family-like environment where I’m surrounded by like-minded individuals. This supportive and inspiring atmosphere not only lets me be myself but also allows me to excel at one of the things I enjoy most: bringing smiles to people’s faces.

The most appealing aspect of our work environment is the opportunity for growth. We have numerous opportunities to continue our education through training and certifications, constantly enhancing our skills and knowledge. Additionally, the ability to travel to different destinations broadens our perspectives and inspires us through unique experiences. Our work environment is truly rewarding and exciting.

The most appealing aspect of my work environment is that it is ever changing. In my role, being on the move and engaging with diverse individuals is crucial for success. The dynamic nature of my position demands constant interaction with clients, partners and industry peers, which keeps my workday varied and exciting. Being on the go, rather than confined to a desk, energizes me and drives my motivation. The chance to explore new locations and build relationships is not just a part of my job—it’s what fuels my passion and keeps me engaged. This aspect of my work environment aligns perfectly with my professional goals and personal interests, making it the most fulfilling part of my role.

The most appealing aspect of my work environment is the opportunity to engage directly with suppliers and see firsthand how the products used in our hotels are made. I've had the chance to visit manufacturing facilities and farms, gaining a deeper understanding of our supply chain. From observing the production of bar and liquid soap to touring an oyster farm, a cattle farm and an outsourced laundry facility, these experiences have been invaluable in appreciating the complexity and intricacies of the products we source.
