Artaic, a mosaic manufacturer that uses robotic technology and design tools to create custom installations, has partnered with Town and Country Surfaces. The partnership includes a new collection of mosaics designed and manufactured to order, with inventoried tile in the U.S.
As part of the partnership, the brands developed the Mid Century Modern Collection, a line of patterned mosaics with classic midcentury motifs reimagined through a modern lens. Scott Hyman, president of Town & Country, envisioned the concepts for the four new patterns, leveraging his experience with surfaces and collaboration with Artaic to turn the vision into a mosaic. The collection was influenced by walking tours through New York City, studies of mosaic and architectural patterning and the midcentury-modern design of Palm Springs.
Using Artaic’s proprietary Tylist software, Artaic translated Scott’s vision from concept to scaled artwork. The mosaics can be adapted to cover surfaces ranging from showers to expansive installations.
Each pattern is available in four colorways, tailored to its unique design and inspired by midcentury modern’s tones, contrasts and neutrals. For projects requiring complete flexibility, the designs are customizable in any hue from Artaic’s broader color palette.
The Mid-Century Modern Collection is sold in square-foot modules.
