A new documentary chronicling the life and legacy of White Lodging founder Bruce White has been released and provides an in-depth look at the entrepreneur’s rise from a single hotel in Indiana to leading one of the largest privately-held hospitality management companies in the country.
Entitled Bruce: Begin with the End in Mind and narrated by television host Mike Rowe, the 40-minute film features archival footage, interviews and White’s own words. It was produced alongside the recently published biography Hospitalitarian: Bruce White’s Legacy and is available to stream for free on White Lodging’s website, as well as on Prime Video.
White founded the Merrillville, Ind.-based company in 1985 and led it until his death in 2023. Today, White Lodging manages hotels and restaurants nationwide, including large JW Marriott properties in Indianapolis and Austin.
“Our country needs to hear more stories about more Americans like Bruce,” Rowe said of his decision to narrate the film.
Beth White, Bruce’s wife and chair of the company, said the project is “more than a tribute” and serves as “a roadmap for how values-driven leadership can shape a company, a community and an industry.”
Proceeds from the book and documentary will be matched by the White family foundations and directed toward education initiatives in Northwest Indiana.
