The Barnett—a JdV by Hyatt lifestyle hotel in New Orleans’ Warehouse Arts District—has completed a transformation that includes redesigned guestrooms and suites, a revamped rooftop pool and bar, an enhanced lobby experience and expanded culinary and musical programming.
The renovation was led by local developer The Domain Companies and managed by New Orleans, La.-based HRI Hospitality. As part of the JdV by Hyatt collection, 234-room hotel now gives guests access to World of Hyatt, the brand’s global loyalty program.
“This transformation is about more than a refreshed aesthetic—it’s about creating a space where people want to gather, celebrate and connect,” Todd Metzger, general manager, said in a statement. “We want The Barnett to feel like part of the neighborhood’s rhythm—a hotel that reflects New Orleans’ vibrant energy while offering a genuine sense of belonging to everyone who walks through the door.”
The hotel’s redesign draws inspiration from French Modernism, Art Deco influences and the city’s signature mosaic street tiles. The lobby is designed to pay homage to the property’s history as Barnett’s Furniture Store, blending eclectic furnishings and plush seating with community tables and soft rugs in a palette of greens, yellows and reds, according to the company.
The guestrooms and suites include Sealy Plush 1000 mattresses, upgraded premium bedding, 60-inch smart TVs, SMEG mini-fridges, locally curated minibars, luxurious bath amenities and enhanced charging solutions. Layered textiles, vintage-inspired lighting and bold accents are designed to recall the charm of New Orleans’ historic townhouses, while custom-painted armoires and locally sourced artwork look to add an artisanal touch.
Art and music remain a key focus for The Barnett. The property features more than 200 custom-painted armoires designed by Roman and Williams and completed by local and Southern artists, alongside hand-painted signage, mosaic-inspired motifs and curated artwork across all floors.
The Barnett has also updated its F&B options. Brutto Americano—the latest concept from chef Brian Burns and restaurateur Reno De Ranieri—opened earlier this year, blending classical Italian and regional flavors. Seaworthy—situated in a historic Creole cottage—serves sourced seafood and classic cocktails.
High Five, the rooftop pool and bar, has panoramic city views, seasonal small plates, signature drinks, new pool furniture, private cabanas and an revamped food and beverage menu.
