Nina Chiappa Interiors oversees cottage renovation of Carneros Resort and Spa

Carneros Resort and Spa, a resort in Napa, part of California's Napa Valley, completed the renovation of 94 cottages and suites. The resort underwent interior and exterior upgrades to complement its modern farmhouse theme, including redesigned bedrooms, living rooms and bathrooms, upgraded outdoor terrace amenities; and new gas fire pits. This renovation follows a spa renovation in July 2018.

Designed by Oakland-based firm Nina Chiappa Interiors, which also oversaw the renovation of the Spa at Carneros, the theme of the individual cottages was inspired by nature and wine country living. With 400 square feet of living space and up to 800 square feet of outdoor living space, the individual cottages have a neutral color palette of cream with soft golds accented by green, grey, blue and teal shades. Cottage interiors include new furnishing in wood tones with a rustic finish, a botanical patterned fabric tapestry, and lighter grey toned wood grained flooring to accentuate the farm-chic property décor. New contemporary lighting made of blackened iron, a tree slice end table, and a rope ottoman all accentuate the farmhouse theme.

Floor-to-ceiling glass bi-fold doors replaced French doors on one complete wall in a majority of cottages, opening onto a private deck to create an indoor-outdoor living area that doubles the size of the indoor space. All cottages and suites have individual gas fire pits on outdoor terraces, upgraded dining tables and chaise lounges, and landscaped plantings. Portable mini-projectors, as well as telescopes, are now available as add-on amenities.

According to Nina Chiappa, designer of the project, much of the design inspiration for the resort’s cottages and suites was carried over from the spa, where the design team incorporated natural materials, botanical motifs, and indoor and outdoor showers as an extension of the guest cottage experience.

New bathroom amenities include all-white tile in the shower, vanity sinks, and polished quartzite stone vanity tops and tub surround.

Additional upgrades include new dressers, queen-size sleeper sofas available in larger cottages, and plush chairs for a residential cottage feel. Portable Bluetooth speakers, faster Wi-Fi connectivity, and enlarged HDTVs complete the in-room technology upgrade.

Carneros Resort and Spa is located on 28 acres with 100 cottages, suites and private homes. A Napa Valley destination, Carneros Resort and Spa has three dining destinations (FARM at Carneros, Boom Fly Café, and Hilltop Dining Room), a general store (MARKET), a boutique (COOP), spa, 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, 3,000-square-foot fitness center and pool.
