Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile completes renovation

In Quebec, the Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile—the brand’s flagship Canadian property—has completed a multiphased refurbishment.

The full-scale renovation—which coincides with Sofitel’s 60th anniversary—reflects the brand’s continued evolution under CEO Maud Bailly. Located on Sherbrooke Street in the center of Montreal, the property is near the city’s boutiques, restaurants and cultural landmarks, including Mount Royal and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

“We’re thrilled to welcome guests into a redefined Sofitel experience that captures the vibrancy of Montreal and the soul of French art de vivre,” general manager Marc Pichot said in a statement. “Every space—from our suites to our dining venues—has been designed to celebrate creativity, elegance, and the distinctive character of this city.”

Led by Canadian design firm 2pirdesign, the transformation was designed to evoke a French residence. From the lobby to the guestrooms, the hotel has rose and bronze metallic accents, sculptural lighting and curated artwork.

All 256 guestrooms, including 17 suites, have been reimagined with a focus on comfort and artistry. The interiors include teal murals, rose and bronze detailing, marble bathrooms with Balmain amenities and Sofitel’s signature MyBed. The “Art of Sleep” program is designed to offer personalized touches such as calming teas, playlists and tailored lighting for a restful experience, according to the brand.

Event spaces—including the Picasso Ballroom and Monet-Chagall, Matisse and Gauguin meeting rooms—now have refreshed interiors that integrate art and design inspired by Montreal’s cultural landscape. The renovation extends to the hotel’s culinary venues, including a full redesign of its signature restaurant, RENOIR, and the debut of NINI Cocktail Lounge.
