The Sofitel New York—the luxury brand’s U.S. flagship property—has completed a revitalization designed to reflect the Art Deco heritage of New York and Paris.
Nearly one-third of Sofitel hotels worldwide are currently undergoing revitalization as part of the brand’s efforts toward achieving consistency and excellence, according to the company. The revitalized hotel is designed to showcase a refined convergence of Parisian elegance and modern metropolitan energy.
“Sofitel New York emerges as our flagship Art Deco icon—a new milestone in our journey to showcase the very best of Sofitel’s French zest, harmoniously blended with the timeless energy and unmistakable vibrancy of New York City,” Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery & Emblems, said in a statement.
“From our reimagined Penthouse and world-class suites to the debut of our vibrant new bar and bistro, Social 45, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create an experience as dynamic and unforgettable as the city itself,” added general manager Dieter Schmitz.
The hotel entrance includes a grand foyer with sculptural coffered ceiling, marble floors, deep green walls and crisp white paneling. The lobby also serves as the backdrop for the nightly Candle Ritual, Sofitel’s global tradition inspired by Parisian evenings.
The hotel’s 398 refreshed accommodations are designed to reflect contemporary French Art Deco influences, with custom furnishings, wall paneling, sculptural lighting and a warm neutral palette punctuated by subtle red accents. Guestrooms and suites include Sofitel BED—the brand’s signature sleep experience—while marble bathrooms offer rain showers and amenities by Balmain and Diptyque. Upper-floor rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the Manhattan skyline, while many of the hotel’s 52 suites offer views of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings.
At the center of the property’s renewed social scene is Social 45, Bar & Bistro, a stylish venue designed for day-to-late-night dining and drinks. The design aims to evoke the intimacy of a Parisian salon through curved brass archways, sculptural lounge seating and plush banquettes. Morning service features La Haute Croissanterie, Sofitel’s signature gourmet croissant program, and an outdoor café is slated to open in Spring 2026.
Sofitel New York’s meeting and event spaces have also been reimagined, including the refined Paris Ballroom, which have Art Deco-inspired detailing and a palette of black, cream and gold. Seven additional meeting rooms have abundant natural light, streamlined French design touches, advanced audiovisual capabilities and panoramic city views.
